24 July 2008 - Senko Poppers
Just got back from the Penobscot River (Maine) and worked the Yamamoto 'Senko' to death! Cap'n Chuck was cutting them in half so when I ran low, I started doing the same. The fish were in "ambush mode", so I had my guys throwing up on shore and fast twitching them back out to about 20 feet from shore, then dropping the rod tip and letting them fall. The half Senko, rigged with the Split-Shot hook through what used to be the middle. This makes a great popper that sinks when stopped, provoking violent strikes! Just try not to set the hook. <grin>
